On 9th February, 1916, 20th London of 141 Brigade, 47th Division moved into the front line at Maroc, near Loos in northern France. The first three days here were generally quiet but on 12th February things became more violent. A heavy trench mortar destroyed G Sap, a small trench leading out into no-man’s land from the front line, killing three men from D Company there and later a rifle grenade killed a man in J Sap. Among the victims was Aubrey Goodridge.
